I’d like to introduce you to Nancy, our fifth interview…
At age 31 while in the process of a divorce Nancy took her 2 daughters and with no child support, alimony or other source of income, moved 70 miles away and started her own business.
At the new location Nancy was offered a salaried position at a higher pay then she had ever had before. She realized they were hiring her at “the top of the ladder” leaving her no place to grow. She didn’t want a job. She felt what she needed was a career. So with no other source of income, she opted for her own business.
Nancy knew nothing about saving, investing or financial planning. She had never owned a CD, mutual fund or anything other than a savings account. She told herself that even if the business didn’t work out, the experience would be worth it since what she would learn about managing money would help her to raise her children.
Knowing that before too long she would need to put her children through college, she put herself through school and obtained her Certified Financial Planner and Certified Long Term Care Specialist designations. Nancy also earned her Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation and has testified in court as an expert witness for the financial aspects of divorce.
Nancy built the business from scratch to one of the top asset management and financial planning practices in the country with the company.
With approx. $200 million in assets under management and 1,200 clients, in 2007 she sold her practice. Nancy is now a national speaker helping business owners do a better job for their clients and improve their bottom line. And she speaks on topics that help individuals live a successful life and realize their dreams.
Nancy has been quoted in many local and national publications, including USA Today, and has been a speaker for major corporations such as Pfizer, General Dynamics, The US Navy, Dow Chemical and many others. She has also been a guest on several live TV and radio call in shows.
Imagine having a mindset where you believe that adversity can either make you or break you, and your mantra is “I can’t think of anything that could possibly happen to me that I couldn’t handle.”
Listen live to hear more about Nancy and how she did it! Join us on April 15, at 3:30pm / 6:30pm ET, HERE on Blog Talk Radio.
