I’d like to introduce you to Amanda, our second interview…

Armed with a butcher knife, her ex locked her in a room with him.

Overcome with fear and shock, she knew she didn’t want to die. Suddenly, nothing mattered—not friends, not money, not possessions. real life resilience woman in distress

When he threatened to kill her, Amanda’s fear transformed into acceptance. She mentally prepared for death and lost the will to survive. But when it didn’t immediately happen, she opened her eyes and decided to live.

Ironically, she had watched a television show on how to survive hostage situations only weeks prior, never believing that she would actually put those tactics to use. She implemented the strategies, agreed to his demands and calmly answered in the affirmative.

An hour passed and she was still alive. Her resolve grew stronger. After many failed attempts to alert the authorities, one split second turned the odds of survival in Amanda’s favor. When her captor was distracted, she was able to call 911. It only took four words: he’s got a knife.

After this ordeal, she changed her perspective on life. She realized that things are replaceable; life is not. This outlook has helped her to persevere through countless challenges.

Now, she looks for the bright side of things. She doesn’t get easily frustrated when things go wrong. And she lives with the belief that everything will work out in the end.

In one instant, Amanda decided to live!

Listen live to hear more about Amanda and how she survived a hostage situation, thrived and is now a writer! Join us on April 12, at 3:30pm / 6:30pm ET, HERE on Blog Talk Radio.
