I’m sorry, I value myself too much.

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I have been making a HUGE mistake in my business.

HUGE! Possibly the worst thing I EVER could have done.

I wasn’t valuing my services.

I thought I was being nice (‘SOMEONE has to help those without a lot of money.’)

I thought I was giving it away to people who valued ME.

And I was wrong.

It makes me feel gross when I give a friend advice that a client would pay for, and they don’t even TRY to put it into action. It also takes the relationship to weirdness-ville because I feel used and they sense something is up.

Until now I didn’t know this was up. Now I see it.

I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately, and I’ve been discussing success with a lot of potential clients. Here is what I’m noticing, 99% of people don’t really want to succeed.

They don’t really want successful businesses. They don’t really want to be happy. They don’t really want to know how to do both at the same time.

Nope.

They want to complain to me. They want to tell me how much they’re suffering. And then they want me to give them free coaching.

“I would, but I don’t have the money”

is the most common excuse.

And it’s viable for a select few, but not for those who actually want success.

Here’s the thing about money…if you don’t have any, you either find a way to make some OR stop spending on useless cr@p that won’t teach you skills or won’t upgrade your mindset (both of which will make you money).

Don’t tell me you don’t have money when you do. I can see you on Facebook or Twitter bragging about the latest concert you went to, fancy dinner out and new pair of designer shoes.

Don’t whine about your lack of clients when you can’t be bothered to invest in your client attraction strategies.

Do you really believe in abundance?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

On the weekend I was listening to my mentor speak about happiness, abundance and money. From his seminar, I took away a major AHA moment:

I thought I believed in universal abundance. Except that I don’t, and so my actions are matching my out-dated beliefs.

Once I realized that, I put something into action. From now on, I am making a conscious effort to have the decisions I make reflect my new and true belief of abundance. No more thinking I believe in abundance, and then making decisions that reflect lack.

NOW

The Gift of Self-ishness

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Yes, I said it: Selfishness is a gift that you give to yourself. I think of it as ‘self-ish’ ness and it’s a good thing.

I talked about it broadly in my post called ‘Must Be Nice‘ over on The Center For Authentic Self Development blog.

Don’t those three little words just make you cringe? Whenever someone uses them, don’t they just echo throughout the room and come back to slap you in the face, yelling You’re So Selfish!

And isn’t that what you’re most afraid of? Being raised a nice girl, being selfish is the utmost horror anyone could ever bestow upon you.

Tribes: How to inspire change

Posted by: | Comments (8)

I’m currently researching charisma, leadership and inspiration. (By the way, one of THE BEST books to read if you’re in the coaching/consulting industry, or deal with people in any way is ‘How to Win Friends and Influence Peopleby Dale Carnegie. I think everyone in business should read it!)

As I’m doing this, I came across this amazing video by TED Talks; It’s Seth Godin talking about ‘tribes’ and the idea that you don’t inspire change by trying to dominate people or impose your will. You inspire change by creating a movement that others can get behind. People love to connect with those who are like themselves. Think of the people in your life who make you the happiest, you are more alike than different in your ideas, ethics and likes/dislikes. I’m not saying that everyone you like is the same as you, just that you’re more likely to support those who you feel that you have a solid (and common) foundation with.

As Dale Carnegie says:

‘Arouse an eager want. When we have a brilliant idea, instead of making others think it is ours, why not let them cook and stir the idea themselves. They will regard it as their own…’

…And be more likely to fully get behind it with their attention and efforts.

Check out the video and let me know what you think.

I know I’ve been quiet on the blogs lately.  Between The Now of Happiness book, my coaching clients and some MAJOR Joint Ventures I have going on, I’m very busy behind the scenes!

Which brings me to some exciting news I want to share with you today!

Coaching is expensive (but worth it!) and it takes money to get yourself going. Which is why I encourage clients to work at least part time as they’re building they’re businesses.

I can relate to other Part-Time Entrepreneurs (hey, bootstrapping is just smart!)  and I was invited to share my expertise and be part of:

The World’s First (And Only) Organization for Part-Time Entrepreneurs

Say hello to International Alliance of Motivated Part-Time Entrepreneurs (IAMPTE)

As part of my Happiness Movement in 2011, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to advocate for the success of part-time entrepreneurs as a Featured Expert.

I’ll be sharing tips on happiness, business, life “balance” (you know how I feel about that word) and how to set up support systems that WORK for you. It’s hard enough being a PTE without some of the JUNK other people will try and dump all over you! (There are 16 other experts in happiness and business matters, too.)

* Are you a part-time entrepreneur (PTE)? If you are passionately trying to grow a business “on the side” of your full-time life … with another job or taking care of your family for example.. then likely you are!

  • PTEs have to be super motivated to step beyond a few unique challenges: 1) comparing their success with that of same-industry full-time entrepreneurs; and 2) reacting out of fear to these comparisons by signing up for costly training programs and taking marketing advice that is not RIGHT and not affordable for their differently paced businesses.
  • There can be a cost to being a passionate PTE. If PTEs are passionate about their business, but not finding practical, proven and easy to implement tips, tools and information to turn that passion into monetized success too… it wreaks havoc on relationships, finances and self-esteem.

But no longer! No more defining part-time success on full-time terms, no more expensive advice when affordable solutions fit your needs much better. PTE businesses are unique, and who you take advice from and your business actions much reflect your reality, nobody else’s.

Can you tell that I am delighted to be an expert?!

Join me today. Every new annual member gets $800 in FREE gifts!

Visit the website now (click here) to see all $800 in free gifts – including the Cash Flow Creator, The Nuts & Bolts of Building a List (<< That’s mine!) and much more including contributed by me!

And you can also get a flavor of what IAMPTE is all about by browsing the public website, which has some fabulous sample articles about money, marketing and making yourself happy in PTE business life, including how to set up your C.O.A.C.H Support System (whether it’s an official business coach or an accountability partner, they MUST have these qualities for you to succeed!)

Or you can pop over to find us on Facebook and Twitter and join the excitement.
